The Dream Syndicate Live in LA
The Dream Syndicate live!
A worldly man, indeed, Steve Wynn brought his band back home to LA for a summertime “Days of Wine and Roses/40th Anniversary” tour. As a venue, he chose The Lodge Room — an old Masonic lodge in Highland Park, just outside of Los Angeles. The club is reminiscent of what the old Avalon Ballroom might have looked like and provided the perfect groovy, old-school-psychedlic backdrop. This video was the final song of the band’s first set, which consisted of “best-of/post-2000” Syndicate material. The second set was a performance in its entirety of the band’s 1982 debut album, THE DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES.
Steve Wynn, Jason Victor, Dennis Duck and Mark Walton hadn’t performed together since before the Covid pandemic in early 2020. This video was shot on the second stop of the tour. The previous night in San Diego, they were more than ready. This LA show was something of a homecoming for a band that is widely considered a “local” act despite the fact that over the years, three of the four members have moved out of state. LA is where they got their start, though, and the welcome was warm.
A cool song. Enjoy the glide.
